Travis Scale Company was founded in July 1997 when Ron Travis decided to put his name on a hat and began his own scale company. A successful business sparked from a career in the United States Marine Corp. in which Ron Travis served from 1975 to 1979. Thereafter, he worked as a mechanic for 1 1/2 years. Ron Travis would then become a service man for a scale company until 1995 in which his reputation preceded him in the agriculture industry. Ron Travis then found himself asking a friend to borrow a scale truck in order to start his own business. With a leap of faith and a passion for life, entrepreneurship, and scales themselves; details were worked out in order for his successful business to launch. Located in the Southwest corner of Kansas in Liberal, Travis Scale Company operates 3 service trucks and a full time construction crew with a full time salesman. Travis Scale Company is licensed in 5 states and along with service, has a reputation for installations, including State scale installations. Ron Travis is an active member and advocate for sustaining and improving the scale industry. He is currently an active member of NIST and the founder of the Kansas Scale Company Coalition. He is an informative advisor for the new scale technician school at Barton County Community College in Great Bend, KS. Ron Travis is the owner of Travis Scale Company and continues to wear his hat on and off the field.
